Edinburgh Napier University
I know that many of you, like me, have been shocked, saddened and concerned by the news, images and stories coming out of Ukraine, and I fully support the recent statement made by Universities UK on the invasion.
I want to reassure you that we are supporting those affected – the wellbeing of our colleagues and students is our utmost priority.
Since the conflict began last week, we have been contacting those we know may be impacted and offering support. We have a small number of students from Ukraine and several staff with family connections and a small number of Russian students. They have been offered counselling and mental wellbeing support as well as any other more practical needs they may have. We are also engaging with the Scottish Government and with Universities UK to work with officials on providing effective support for those impacted.
Students affected by the news can reach our health and wellbeing resources via their MyNapier. Our colleagues at ENSA are also there to provide advice, support and an adviser to talk to if your studies, or any aspect of your life, is being impacted – ensa.advice@napier.ac.uk.
Staff members can find the support we offer in our Health and Wellbeing section on the staff intranet.
The University Leadership Team is monitoring the ongoing and developing situation and we will share any updates when appropriate.
Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine at this difficult and dangerous time.
Thank you.
Professor Andrea Nolan.
Principal and Vice Chancellor of Edinburgh Napier University.
